Get Involved
Volunteering at Hope Academy is a truly rewarding experience.  Volunteers teach the children a variety of skills including English, math and computer skills.  Volunteers are housed with local host families and get the opportunity to experience the African life, culture and language.

We have hosted volunteers from UK, Singapore and Ireland in the past two years.  We also work with various volunteer organizations including A Broader View Volunteer Group (USA), Watoto Wa Baraka (Kenya), Tanzania Project (Sweden) and Tekua (Tanzania)

A volunteer from Singapore described her experience as follows:

"
The children were keen to learn and a real joy to interact with, but I might be a little biased since they were all extremely adorable as well.  The host family I stayed with was equally great and I really appreciated the glimpse into the Tanzanian way of life.  My volunteer experience was a truly unforgettable experience.  I can only hope that I was able to have as much of an impact on those there, as they had on me. "

Siobhan Smith, our volunteer from Ireland, shared her experience with Hope Academy in an article published in the
Irish Times.
